I put a gun on law away today and will pick it up later this week.

It looks exactly like my other Jovino Effectors, but I'm I'm about 99 percent sure it isn't, hope I'm wrong.

It is a 357 magnum, but it is built on a 28-2 frame. If it is not a Jovino, it is very well done. One clue is the barrel is not the same shade as the frame.

Does anyone know of Jovino making 357 Effectors on a 28-2 frame?

Regardless the price made me buy it, I couldn't pass it up.

I have a couple of 28-2's that I believe are Jovino's. I have only lettered 1 of those and it was shipped to the New York State police. I'm guessing it got a makeover at Jovino's at some point in its life. The Barrel color on one of mine is a plum color, sometimes this happens when the blueing process is not exactly right.

That is exactly what my lay away gun looks like. I was thinking it might be a Behlert gun if it is not a Jovino.

Austin Behlert signed pretty much all of his work. I would think if it was his you would find a stamping on it.

Behlert signed his autos, not so much with his revolvers.
Lots of 'smiths were doing conversions back in the day, I wouldn't assume any gun to be a Jovino, Behlert, or any other name 'smith/shop without some kind of provenance.
