Not a Colt expert, but a sucker for handguns in their original boxes SN to match the gun. This one was made in 1965. . .one of the latter pre-1968 ban guns. It's really nice. . .a 95% gun pretty easy. I liked the box. I prefer wood grips. The exposed hammer on the gun is a preference of mine. . .might actually carry this gun. It came from the Colonel's collection. I don't think he will ever run out. The LGS said he had a lot of really nice ones left. Set me back $300. Sort of a no risk and no brainer type thing. My Colt collection is modest. Maybe a dozen now. It fits right in the drawer with all my pre-1930 boxed Smiths. A neat little package. My wife was actually impressed with this gun. That happens, but rarely.

Great snag; I haven't been able to find a nice Junior with box under 450 in my area.

I do have a 22 Short, but it's a Beretta. Got a picture of it here somewhere. No box with this one, but it is one of the first they made. A really cool little gun. Here's the pic. . .1955. A really early one. Maybe first year or two.

I have a Colt Junior 25. It is very particular to the type of ammo, and VERY particular to being extremely clean when fired. I am lucky if I can do two full magazines without having to do some cleaning; otherwise, lots of jams. I hope you have better luck.

Interesting, is your Colt JR an Astra or F.I.E.? Like DocB, I also
have a excellent '65, (Astra,) with box, and it really does fine.
Maybe your magazine is the issue?
Even my '64, (Astra,) .22 short JR runs very good.

I have noticed that magazines are very available. This one has the nickel plated Colt marked magazine. That seems to be more uncommon. Maybe I'll pick up some of the blued ones as extras to go with it. I wouldn't shoot anything but hardball in it anyway. Not sure about the getting dirty fast thing. I tore it all to pieces and found nothing to indicate fouling could be a problem. Maybe the ammo.

Bought one of the little pistols in .22 short in Great Falls, MT, IN 1967. I paid $65. for it, dang at that time it was a months pay. I was in the Air Force, I carried it in the inside coat pocket of my MA-1 jacket when I would go out to the Missile Sites. I did kill a badger I walked upon, took 3 shots to kill the thing. I had to make sure to pick up all the spent brass. As we were not suppose to use the M2 Carbines that we carried as we had to account for every round that was issued. When I was home on leave going to Viet Nam I gave it to my GF to hold for me. Never got either of them back....LOL
