If you are looking for a 3rd model 44 Target online...


Look very closely, the one listed for sale in my neck of the woods isn't exactly what the description says it is. I sent a msg to the seller, but they didn't update the listing.

Buyer beware

Anyone else see anything wrong with this gun?

I ended up buying it.....

Here is the updated auction description from the sale:

Description: This auction is for the Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector chambered in 44 S&W Special. This firearm feature the large S&W trademark is found on the side plate with "Made in U.S.A." in the frame. This Double action revolver was Built on the square butt N frame with five screws, long action hammer and trigger. Reintroduced June 1946 (Post war) with a new slide-activated hammer block and is so indicated with an "S" serial number prefix. (S 64691). This 44 HE has a 4" pinned barrel and matte blue finish that is worn at the tip of the barrel, around the trigger guard, bottom of the frame, and spots throughout. This 44 HE has some wear marks and scratches, but what can you expect from such a treasure of the past. This firearm has a Micro fixed front sight and click adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation also from Micro. Smith and Wesson Diamond checked grips with S&W monograms, 6-shot fluted cylinder with a nominal length of 1.57", a .260" checked hammer spur, grooved tangs and a serrated trigger. The bore of this revolver is bright with defined rifling, the cylinder-bores are smooth with minor carbon build up. The NRA grading condition for this firearm is GOOD.

I didn't make make the connection between this thread and that gun until I had already posted another thread about it here.

It doesn't look nearly as bad in person as it did in the pictures. We'll find out how it shoots later today.
 
I had a similar experience buying a 44 3rd Target. After sending a Cashier's Check for about 7K, I got this ship date request back from Roy. Thankfully, the seller issued me an immediate refund.
