Here's a pic of the top of the box, and the other (right) end of the box, which is plain, with no stick-on label. The serial # is C5774XX, verified by S&W Historian Roy Jinks as having been shipped in May of 1962 (One of the advantages of being a member of the S&W Collectors Association). The serial number is hand-written on the bottom of the box with a white grease pencil. I have no doubt that the box is original to the gun.

Hard to believe a 10-2 from 1962 is still a 4 screw. I thought my 10-no dash form 1959 was a late 4 screw.

I guess you can never say never when it comes to Smith & Wesson. This may have been an earlier frame, used and shipped later. At any rate, here's the proof that this is actually a 4-screw! The date of shipment was confirmed by Roy Jinks.
