Well, I slept late this morning. (forgive me John Denver) Didn't get started until nearly 10:00. I rolled my lawn tractor our and hooked my yard cart up and loaded up the chain saw, ax, long handled pruning shears and a good long stick to probe for snakes and some sturdy tow rope. Pulled this rig down the hill to a spot in the woods just off the path where there is a lot of downed trees and big limbs.
I went in with the stick and probed under the the logs and limbs I was going to drag out and made sure there weren't any snakes hidin' in there anywhere. I had my trusty snake charmer on my hip just in case. I had to cut my way in with the pruning shears. lots of brush and sticker vines. LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of sticker vines.
Secured one in of the rope to the end of a log and ran the rope back to lawn tractor and tied on to the hitch. One by one I pulled 'em all out where I could get to 'em with my chain saw and cut 'em up for fire wood.
I had about 4 piles of wood when I got through. I loaded the wood on the cart (took 5 trips) and pulled it all up to the back of the house and put it in the wood racks.
We have a few days of rain coming so I decided to go on and mow all my places that have grass.
Then I got out that beast of a weed eater (what it don't cut it pulls up out of the ground. It's an Echo heavy duty gas powered weed destroyer.
I trimmed up around the house and garden and trees but I also worked on clearing more of the area in back of the house. Still have a ways to go on that but I'm gittin' there. It already looks a lot better than before I got started.
After all that I had just enough energy left to do a quick hand watering of my rows of the community garden just we don't get the rain that was predicted.
Put my seeds down a couple of days ago and I don't want 'em to dry out till they are up and solid.
I nearly fell asleep in the shower. Am I stiff, tired, sore all over? Oh yeah! But I feel great!! I'll have to wait and see what I feel like when I wake up in the moring...IF I wake up.
I don't expect I'll have any trouble going to sleep tonight.
Life is good...it's better in the country.
