I just brought home a really nice 19-6 from the local gun shop. Aside from a bit of edge wear at the muzzle it literally looks unfired. There aren't even any burn rings on the cylinder face nor any visible wear on the top trap. It's also the first used revolver I've ever owned that never had the sideplate screws removed.

I'll be awhile before I can put some rounds through it, but I'm eager to find out if it shoots just as good as my 6" 19-3 that I bought earlier this year.

Great revolvers…but a lot depends on under what corporate ownership Smith was at the time. The Bangor Punta years could be a bit problematic…the Lear Sigler era was a bit sketchy at times as well.

Well, according to a member who helped me out this one was 1993. It's also pre-lock era. That's all I care about.

Quiet. Or else I'll have to get a Model 66 too. Maybe one of each barrel length.

My 19 K Comp is a real favorite!

Added some sights from Dave Lauck…

Here it is parked next to my 6" 19-3. I was surprised to see such a difference in the finish. The 19-6 is a gloss blue, but it's obviously darker and less reflective than the level of polish they put on the older gun. The difference you see isn't just the camera angle or lighting.

A 19-3 from 1973 that, like so many of its siblings, spent years in a duty holster long before it found its way to me.

Indeed.

If I get the itch for one, look for a pre-Bangor Punta.
