Picked up a pretty nice example of a Model 10-8 round butt with 3" barrel at my local Bass Pro Shops.
Came with the factory Round Butt Target Grips as stated on the original box, numbered to the gun and the tools, manual and paper.
Didn't need another .38 Special, however I thought this one to be kind of "Special".

Nice find! Model 10s are everywhere, but when you find one of the rarer configurations in exceptional condition, they are hard to resist. This one was calling out to me at a gun show many years ago, in marvelous shape since it left the factory. I could not resist it. They made 'em very carefully back in the day, for sure.

LEO918 theyre all special in their own unique way and the 3 in is a great find.I love all of my smiths and I really enjoy shooting them every chance I get, good for you.

There are SOOO many model 10’s on the market, but like new 10’s are really hard to pass on —- especially if they are about $500.

People seem to say this a lot. When I lived back east I saw tons of old cop model 10’s ( usually in well worn finish condition but excellent mechanically) readily available for low prices.

I moved out west about 9 years ago, and it seems when it comes to reasonably priced S&W revolvers Arizona is something of a desert!
I keep an eye out, but even though we are blessed with a healthy number of gun shops, it is rare that I see more than a couple older prelock smiths in my travels over a years time.

That OP 3” is a gem!

I do like that 3” with those banana style grips. I would like to have a 3” Model 10 but haven’t seen very many around here.
I’ve got a Model 10-7 snubby in nickel. I’ll see if I can find a picture.

Here is my Model 10-7, in nickel like John’s gun above, but mine is a square butt. Take a look at the hang tag when I bought the gun. I’ve had it a while.

Now THAT'S a Model 10!

I’m afraid I have a weakness for snub nose revolvers no matter the frame or maker.

My sock drawer 10 and cop backup 1948 (birth year) M&P. Also 2 new J frames. 1st 40-1 and 30-1.
