Dag namit, got to wait 10 days cause I live in ca. Anyone have one like this? I am limited to TEN round magazines, whats the best to buy? Any other things I should get? I am planning on the aimpoint pro red dot.
Don't worry, I will be retiring within 16 months, OR sooner, so I don't need comments about why I live here, I'm moving!

I have one.....love it. I changed a few things. Add rails, Leopold optics, sling mounts & grip.

I have two Aimpoints, an H-1 and a T-1, one on a S&W M&P 15TS and the other on a Noveske Thunder Ranch. For fun and fast shooting, I totally love the Aimpoint.

I've also shot the Aimpoint Pro and it is never a mistake.

I wrote for the gun mags for a long time and was invited on gun-writers hunts a good deal. My friend, can you imagine shooting Beldings ground squirrels with your M&P AR-15 and the Aimpoint Pro???

What a blast.

Best of luck with your new rifle and optics. Also, have a super retirement.

God Bless,

Steve Timm

Aimpoint Pro is a good choice. NE Washington can use another shooting buddy and you can purchase and be on the range the same day. I bought a couple of ten round p mags at Midway but I prefer the 20's.

I really like the P-Mags also. I bought a couple of the Gen-3 with the retainer that you can clip onto the top of the mag. Keeps out dirt and they fit pretty tightly. Not much of a gap when you hold them up to the light. If you carry spare ammo in a mag I think they're a pretty good idea. Price is reasonable too.

Just a small nit pick here, but that M&P-15OR, is an optics ready, not optics only. You do have the ability to put sights on the rifle.

I point this out as my friend purchased an optics only Bushmaster...the gas block was not railed. There was no way to mount a front sight to his rifle out of the box.

Hey folks! new to the AR- Used to iron sights with pistols but - after looking at many of the vendor sights I have 150$ to spend on optics etc. I have A2 front sights on my 556 Sport and and must co- witness. I was given a ( nameless) red dot 30mm but no mount to get it up to the rite height- some experienced direction would be appreciated!

Order a 30mm mount from Primary Arms. With the front sight you'll want the high mount. I have the sight and mount from PA and they are really high quality and the fastest shipping and best customer service.

I love mine too. A real fine shooter too boot. You can see most mods. In the pic. But I put the drop in 3lb. Timney trigger in as well. If you can that is the best money spent to me. Not that the original is bad. Just the Timney is so much better . No doubt the most versatile of all my guns. I even saved a bit and got a night vision riflescope that just QD's on and off!!

thanx for the input - have ordered from PA, so when it gets here we will see. I see some have removed the fixedA2 sight from thismodel but my days of that much involvement are past- just the basics and if I get back to iron sights - hey- they work! thanx again

No doubt you will love it regardless of how you do or don't change it. Awesome gun right out of the box! Enjoy!!

M&P15 OR Gas Block Holes

Does anyone know the purpose of the two holes on the bottom of the stock OR gas block? These look very useful...

Answered my own question

I should have researched a bit more before asking:

The large hole towards the front bottom of the gas block, fits a "push button quick disconnect" type swivel. A standard style sling swivel mount (Uncle Mike's) can be screwed in the rear hole in the bottom of the gas block.
