Just bought a Model 19. Not sure of the age.

Bought it at a gun store, not a beauty and the price was only fair, but everything seems tight. They had it tagged as a pre-19, I'm guessing that makes it an older gun. The serial number on my paperwork says K263xxx. Anybody have an idea how old this gun might be? Thanks

You didn't buy a Model 19.

You bought a Combat Magnum.

They didn't produce to many, this one is K316xxx 1957

Yep, you have an early one. Serial numbers for the Combat Magnum began at K2600001. They shipped standard with target stocks and without the upper sideplate screw.
I bought a used one around your serial number in the late 60s and paid a premium for it as Combat Magnums and Model 19s were very hard to find back then. I wish I had it back. Don't let yours get away!
