Congrats!! I love my Shield 40, You're going enjoy carrying it, I know I do. Carry's so well I almost forget I've got it on my side. :D

You will like it for sure. Must warn you thou, it does lead to other M&Ps. enjoy.

My Shield satisfied my EDC and range "fun gun" needs so well, it was time for me to get my first two revolvers!

I admit I do have some lust for a M&P45. ;)

Congratulations! My shield is in the 9mm flavor and I couldn't be happier.

You'll love it for sure. I have both the 40 and the 9 and love both.

Just got the 9. I love this gun. My new concealed carry gun. Love it

In 40S&W and I am in love like a 13 year old school girl.:D

Camo Man

The finish is diamond hard. I have pocket concealed for 18 months in all weather conditions including 100 degree days and there is zero sign of wear on my Shield.

I did change out my sights for XS Big Dot partly because my eye sight is more like a bat than an eagle and the rear stock sight design is prone to catch as one draws from the pocket.

My Shield has become my fun gun at the range and my go to ccw.

Enjoy

Russ :-)

Two things you might want to consider to improve:

A pair of night sights (Ameriglo or TruGlo)

Apex Trigger mod. (that made a somewhat ok trigger pull into something that can only be described as perfect)

Many have suggested putting 500 rounds down range before u change anything. I love my shield. Can't help carry everywhere I go. But I'm starting to miss the full size!!! I wanna carry 'em all!!!

Like RussC... I too have been carrying mine for 18 Months without any problems.
It's still as factory stock as the day I bought it.
While many Shield owners have either gone to different sights, added Apex kits (or both), I can tell you that they aren't necessary with this little jewel... Especially if it's going to be a carry pistol.
Congrats!!

PS: Sorry guys... Owning the Shield has NOT made me crave other M&Ps. Don't need any other pistol... Even for range plinking. The Shield is an All-Day Shooter. Ya know... I don't believe ANY other 3" barreled Subcompact can claim that. ;)

I can't say my Shield doesnt make me want other pistols. But it surely doesnt make me want another carry weapon. This one is by far the easiest to carry and most comfortable to carry. I've carried many from 1911's to revolvers and even the 40C. None of which fit the carry weapon as well as the Shield.

My Shield isnt my range plinker. I shoot it to stay fresh with my training because of course its my EDC. But for the range I have a few 1911's that the Shield just cant step up against.

You will love that gun. My wife an I think there great low recoil shoot straight all around good small gun.

I really enjoy shooting my Shield in 40 as well. I changed out my sights for TFO's. What a shooter as you will discover as well.

Thx guys. I have been looking at a few diffrent night sights but i kinda like the stock ones. I have put 100 rounds threw it so far an no problems at all. I really like the trigger and it has awsome accuracy. I think my sights may need moved just a hair but that could be me. My dad has shot mine and now hes going to get him one too. They are awsome guns.

While probably not that likely to happen, there could be a time in total darkness where you would wish you had the tritium sights.

I have the TruGlo for my FS 9, but I bought the Ameriglo for my 40 Shield. Both have about equal green brightness in total darkness, but I kind of like the Ameriglo because at dusk, when you still have some light, what you see is only the white outline of the tritium tubes, basically just as you would see the white dots on the OEM sights.

This picture is over-emphasizing the green tritium,

Has anyone ditched a walther PPS for the Shield? I have been debating about the shield. I currently own a PPS in 40. It's an extremely accurate little gun. Although in 40 it takes some getting used to the bite of the recoil:

Thx der. That is what im wanting to get. How do you install them. Brass punch and hammer?
