Well the weathers been just awful...Rain, high wind, cold and spittin' snow today.

Got the pickup cranked this morning, went to check on a little band of brood mares that's pastured on the south side of the road.

Drivin' around the fence, I spy'd me a cedar stump that was jest right for a little sightin' in.
Got this here ol' sister I'd been hauling around for a few days.

Now she's probable not as pretty as she once was...But, the old gal's sure nuff got charm.
I let loose a few rounds at that stump at about forty feet or so, just restin' on the window sill of the truck door.

By golly I'm thinking I could play tic-tac-toe with this'n.
Maybe ought to load me up some wad-cutters over a dab of Unique and take up bullet art.

It's just a pretty fair shooter grade in the forty thousand, eight hundred SN range...
I'm torn on which engraver to send 'er to. She deserves a pretty pair of Keith Brown stocks for sure.

Whoever said only accurate firearms are interestin' got my attention.

44 HE 3rd

Until next time...

Wells, I finally got her sum new britches, Thanks to Lee.

Was jest sittin out on the vestibule this morning sippin sum coffee, readin a little poetry and fondlin my most resent infatuation.;):D

Like the Joker said to Batman, where do you get all these wonderful toys?

Nice. Great stocks on that rascal.

And a shootin' dude, to boot!

You made a nice "W". Shoot an "S" just to the left of it and auction it off on the site!

Those ol ladies have a certain charm and they shoot too.

Can't ask for more than that.

Dave, from this neck of the woods, it certainly looks like you're a man who knows how to live. ;)

Beautiful!

Thanks for the post and the great pictures:)

Way cool as the kids would say. I never ever get tired of "neat" revolvers. Take a que from Onomea and send it to Dan Love for engraving. You know nobody can beat Keith for Roper type stocks, but Dave, That old gun is crying out for Helfrict Steer Head Ivories from Paul Persinger{ he's a hell-of-a good guy to boot} Drop it into one of your own superb holsters or make one specially for it . Either way, "WAY COOL" Dave, as always, all my very best, Joe.

What a life! Horses, a pickup, nice hat, and a great gun.

I too live that life but I have to drive a ways before I start shooting out the window since I live in the city!

Neat post. I agree, engrave it, put ivories on it and them post us a pic with it in one of your leather creations. Russet would look really nice.

Excellent photos!

I'll bet that after all that shootin', the weather didn't seem as bad as it had.

Dave,

That is a beauty as many of yours are. You should be a gun writer! You very much remind me of Skeeter. Your posts are wonderful and I love your guns. I hope to meet you some day.We share many of the same interests.

Dave-

Great pics to go with that story.

I strongly disagree with the others on engraving it. That's an ol' workhorse and appears to be used for what it was designed for. It has charisma, history and plain ol' looks cool. Any gussying up would erase all that.
No, she's a beaut the way she sits.
That is one model gun right there that I still want to add to my meager collection.

Good shootin' too BTW. I love Unique, but try some Power Pistol in that girl. It's about all I use in my old TL. Accurate and clean. 7.5-8 grains 'll do it under a 429421.:)

Great old gun and fine story! I know you didn't ask my opinion, but I'm with G4F on leaving that old gal as is - just give her some nice leather to keep her warm when she's not working - and I know you can handle that part of it very well.

Thanks for the post & pictures,

Jerry

Nice shootin Tex! now work on some O's ....

That's a fine ol' 44 ya got there....why ya in the truck? Weather looks to fine for the ponies ;)

I can't help but love the no-nonsense look of the fixed sight guns...I want to see the photos when she's done!

stay warm.

Dave,

That's some nice shootin' (except for the one miss :D).

As to your future plans for her...

I've been married to the same woman for 46 years. She's not quite as slim as she once was. That beautiful face has a few lines in it. Her jet-black hair has a lot of silver in it. And I wouldn't change one damn thing about her, even if I could.

Neither should you.

Buck

I'm thinkin' you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer 44 than a prewar with a 4" barrel. If you get too tired of it, maybe you could see your way to trade or sell it to a poor old hillbilly who's feelin' down on his luck! :) I'd be proud to own such a fine old gun.
