She was born around 4/10 but I did not get any extra springs.

I have some slim black/green linen Gatorbacks from VZ on the way as well as a few mags, base pads and spring/follower kits coming from Wilson. Now I want to get some extra recoil springs. I just like to be prepared :)

This might be a more appropriate post for the Gunsmithing section....

I am new to 1911 ownership, are there any other spare parts I should keep around? If anything major ever goes wrong I will surely send the pistol back to S&W, but I would like to be able to routine maintenance myself.

My buddy has one and I have never been a fan of a Smith auto. I know a lot will not like to hear that. But that was one of the best shooting guns I have shot in a long time. We had it out with his Kimber and another guys Night Hawk and I kid you not it out shot them both. I was told by a Smith rep that's the gun all the guys at Smith love.

I can't wait to shoot it! I should be getting my new grips in today, I'll post some better pics later.

I just got off the phone with S&W Customer Service, for anyone interested the part number for the recoil spring is #39536 and they run $2.50 each. I asked about the round count and spring replacement, he told me 5000 rounds was a safe bet and they could last even longer but they are so cheap you might as well play it safe. He also said if it is a carry piece I should change them every 3000. I ordered 8 springs, that should keep me covered for a while!

I was a little disappointed though... I asked about the spring weight and he could not answer my question. I was curious because I plan to use 230 grain in it, hopefully the springs are good to go.

I wish S&W would offer it with ambi safety for us southpaws......then maybe ad that new sexy round butt like on the new 'E' series.....that might put my 3913 in the safe.
