We were looking to spend a week in the sun n sand.

Originally looked at Florida Keys, but prices were crazy for just hotel rooms. Wife found us an all inclusive with air faire to a resort in the DR that was cheaper by3 a lot

Dang!

Why haven't I done this before!!!

We got a swim-up room. Walk out ur sliding door, take 3 steps and you are in the pool.

Nice room.

Small fridge full of waters, pepsi, 7up and two Presidente Lights.

OK, 2 light beers a day was NOT going to work. Gave the guy a $5 bill and wow, 10 regular Presidente beers would be there every day

Every day, go have breakfast, walk in the ocean, come back, get some sun by the pool. Start drinkin beers, get in the pool. The girl would come by and bring my wife some kinda rum banana drinks.

Met a nice couple from Ottawa Canada, they had the room next door. Late 40s like us. Would like to see the total number of beers we put down in 5 days lol.

All in all, a great time, much needed sun n fun. Didn't get too sunburned or hung over

Delta flights were smooth both going and coming.

Will definitely do it again, value seems good.

The homeland of my adolescent hero and idol, Porfirio Rubirosa. Somewhere I have a biographical book about him. Fascinating reading to say the least. He had little competition in his skills and abilities. He went out in style.

Quite a guy, per Wikipedia.

And, as a legacy, Wikipedia again, he "...inspired Parisian waiters at Maxim's to name gigantic pepper mills "Rubirosas". The name stuck and has been in use all over the world..."

Well, golly!

I'm questioning the 10 beers/day thing, too. Ten beers by 3 o'clock P, now you're a trooper! Of course, you pay for vacation, it's kinda nice to remember something, I heard, and not what wife reminds you for 6 more years. (I was framed!!)

What part of the DR did you go. We have been to Punta Cana Twice and we could not find any Pepsi products close to the resorts.about the 3 days in on both trips my wife would have good money for a Diet Pepsi.
I like to tell people that in an inclusive resort i worry about 3 things.
#1 getting the pool/beach chairs Reserved.
#2 What buffet are we eating breakfast?
and 3rd is it to early to start putting Rum in the Frozen Sissy drinks.

Didn't know about him. When I see "Rubirosa" it makes me think of Connie Rubirosa of Law & Order :D

And according to Wikipedia, Alana de la Garza, who played her:

"...is a distant cousin of TV writer-producer René Balcer, sharing a common relative in Juan Cortina, a Mexican folk hero known as the Rio Grande Robin Hood"

so somewhat related in rebellious spirit to Porfirio.

My membership in the Case a Day Club has long expired. I occasionally still participate in the Beer Before Bed Club and rarely Beer For Breakfast. Good beer tastes as good as ever, but I have to admit my age and cannot process the calories. When the wind is out of the right direction and the planets align, there is a thirst that can only be quenched by a good cold beer.

Beautifully said, Rick. :)

I was a charter member of the Budweiser 10,000-gallon club, anymore I drink 1 day a week, usually after my weekend golf round. Problem is I pack in 7 days' worth in one sitting much to my wife's chagrin.

I am thinking about quitting it altogether, it takes me 5 days to recover!

I spent many a weekend out at my roommate's grandad's "ranch" over a 15 year period in my 20's and 30's. Normal was a 12-pack Friday night after arrival and a case on Saturday through the day and night. During the latter part of the year there was always grandad's homemade muscadine wine as well. These days a shot and a beer will be quite enough. Having a hard time remembering the last time I had more than two drinks in a evening.

Been thinking about a new spot.

Did you need a passport?

Was the pool and ocean warm enough to swim?

Keys were fun for fishing but the wind can get rough right now
