Just got my first Shield 9 mm

Congratulations and I hope it is everything that you wanted it to be. I like my Shield 9mm. It is a decent semi-auto. However, I just cannot help myself from turning to revolvers. :). In fact I am leaning towards adding on either the S&W Model 640 Pro Series or the Model 60 Pro Series. I suppose the demand must be high for both of these revolvers. None of the dealers and gun shops I've contacted have any of these revolvers in stock. I've even called Smith & Wesson and they claim that they are sending these revolvers out to wholesalers everyday. Maybe they are sending these Pro Series revolvers to countries outside of the good old USA. I will certainly be glad when those out of stock notices come down.

Great choice!!! I really enjoy mine. It is a pretty good shooter regardless of the size. Be safe and have fun.

Congrats on your new shield. Mine just arrived at my dealer this morning. Bought the no safety version. Cant wait to pick it up. Hoping to get there tomorrow.
Be safe

Enjoy it! I have one and it is a good shooter. I think it handles well for a small gun and comes with a usable trigger. I have had mine for over a year and put a lot of bullets through it, but it still does not like light loads.

Congratulations! I love mine. It's very comfortable and easy to shoot.

Congrats -- its my EDC. I feed it Hornady Critical Duty 135g +P for carry; Freedom Munitions Remans for range rounds.

Congrats! I hope it works out for you as well as mine does for me.

I know how you feel. A new car or a new gun are about the only things I get excited about. New cars don't come around that often. :D

Yes... I love it. Went to the range today and its amazing. No problems at all. 100 rounds so far.

Congrats! I also pick one up about three weeks ago.

Congrats! I've actually found that I love shooting my Shield more than my M&P full size of the same caliber.

I really like my Shield 9mm (safety, LCI version). It is my weekend carry gun. A little too big for a suitcoat pocket, but fine for cargo shorts or a bomber jacket.

I put Meprolight night sights on mine.

I'm glad you like your new Shield. I believe it is a very good conceal carry pistol. No manufacturer is going to put out a handgun that is 100% perfect. So when a few folks had problems, they and some others became very vocal and gave many negative reviews of the Shield. So when the issue of the safety warning occurred concerning the Shield's trigger bar pin, the Shield was getting (in my opinion) a very bad rap. You will see that the great majority of S&W Shield owners are very satisfied with this gun. I like it very much. It is a very good compact/subcompact pistol it is comfortable to hold and to shoot. For those who are looking for a conceal carry pistol, I recommend that they try both the Shield and the M&P Compact. They are both fine pistols and you won't go wrong with either.

Sweet. Check the gun leather forum for a couple of nice holsters for your new little friend!

Welcome to the "club". I have a no thumb safety model in 9mm. Nice complement to my FS and Compact.

I have a 9mm Shield with safety that I picked up a couple of months ago. I like it VERY much. The safety doesn't bother me since I shoot 1911s a lot; it actually helps me transition between the two.
