I'm new to this forum, so go easy on me gang. I own several guns but never a S&W. I've been looking for a really good target gun and been reading some things about the 617 in this form (thanks guys). When the local gun shops had a 17 or 617 in the case it was priced at $750 or more (and it didn't last too long either). That I went to a local gun show and milled around for a while. I saw some really nice 17's there but all were out of reach of my beer pockets. I was ready to leave and walking towards the door when I saw this 617 lying there complete with it's case and all the factory documents and accessories (10-shot built May 2009). With a little negotiating I walked out with this gun for $575 cash. It has a couple of dings / dents on the front sight and I ordered a new front sight bar and pin from S&W for about $8.
I just back from the range and I'm happy to report that it shot true and accurate. Can't figure out the photos on to this site yet (file too large) so I put a link here for a pick.

congrats K22s are great smiths and cheap to shoot. cant beat the accuracy. I have a 17 which i love, but I want a 617 to go along with it that I can shoot and shoot and not worry about the finish. I promise that your 617 is much more accurate than you are.
