Just got my Shield 9mm tonight

I have bought lots of new guns, from smiths, glocks, h&k's, rugers among others and i have never cleaned any of them before shooting and have never had any issues, NONE EVER!

Some people are luckier than others. Had a friend years ago that used to do that and opened the barrel like a banana on the first shot. Lucky,no one was close enough to get hurt. Manufacture wouldn't back the rifle because proper cleaning procedures weren't followed before shooting.

Cleaned My Shield

I went to Wally World and bought a universal gun cleaning kit (brass rods & not expensive) to clean rifles, shotguns, and pistols. I also bought Hoppe's #9 solvent and Hoppe's elite gun oil.

Field stripped the Shield, wiped off any oil/grease from the factory, dry patch down the bore, solvent down the bore with a patch, then a couple of dry patches to wipe clean the solvent.

Manual listed 7 points to oil and use a drop of oil on those spots only. Reassembled the gun. Pretty easy to do.

Might get to shoot it before the end of the week. Local range near 15 min from work is usually packed so hit or miss when you go.
