May seem a bit crazy to you guys but ive always dreamed of working at a gunstore as a salesperson. So last week, i took a shot in the dark and went into Martin B. Retting's (gun store) and looked into possible employment. I got the usually "we will call you next week" answer after getting a mini interview and test so i didnt think much of it. Well, i got called in this morning for a second interview! The verdict? I got sentances to a full time sales position on the floor!

I cant believe this happened! Am i dreaming? I must be dreaming... (pinches self) nope... Its real...

I finally get to start a carrer in firearms... I couldnt have found a better place to start... I feel very lucky with all of my recent misfortune around my health. This was just the pick me up i need! Its amazing, ive never been excited to go to work until now...

Well thats my (positive) rant for today! Now its time to start my new vocation...

Good for you Spencer!

Out of curiosity, was the test to see what you knew about firearms?

I ask because I've wondered if gunstore employees needed to take a sort of "gun-quiz" before they were hired. Kinda makes sense.

Yes there was a test but i will not say what about exactly just so i dont give anything away about it for future applicants. I suprized me how much i knew and how much i didnt know

It is my impression that Martin Retting Gunstore is a very old and established facility. I have seen their auctions on the internet and they start them at a penny and sell very well.

I have heard their reputation is impeccable.

Congratulations.

Thanks. They said my enthusiasm and willingness to learn Is what sold me to them. Lol. Im willing to learn and do anything they ask of me. Even scrubbing the toilets! Lol. I feel very lucky to be given the opportunity to work at a store such as this one with its reputation. The last thing i expected was a full time job offer. Somebody is lookin out for me...

Watch out for the Employee Payroll Deduction Plan:eek::eek:

Don't ask me how I know:rolleyes:;):D

Lol ive heard about this with other stores. I know someone who works at a smaller store in susanville who works there for the soul purpose of spending his entire paycheck on guns in the store. Explains why the deals are gone instantly there lol

Conflict

California, gun shop employment, new career launch, expectation of income.

Three out of four seem like a conflict in conventional logic.

Good luck with the new job. I have vague memories about "going to work excitement", very vague.

I was thinkinh the same thing when i read this. Lol. And the gunstore will probably see the majority of my income... I cant complain tho. I will finally be able to afford the guns ive always wanted. Lol. But most of all, im excited to learn new things, and hopefully be able to teach first time gun buyers a wealth of knowlege that will benefit them for years to come.

Congrats on the job. Look out that you do not become your best custumor yourself.

I do work sometimes at a gunstore. It cost me always money. :)

Good for you! I worked part time in a gun store in the late 70s-early80s. Best job I ever had. Getting paid to do something you love is certainly not work. Good luck with the new career.
