You have a .44 Hand Ejector First Model Revolver serial number 7793 with a 6 1/2” barrel, also known as a Triple Lock revolver.

Congratulations on a fine inheritance.

Thank you! Is there a way to get info on what model year it is? It is 100% original I believe. Is there any idea of value? What if anything should I do next with it? Do I need to apply for any authenticity certifications? Sorry not much of a gun guy, but I always coveted this gun as I remember my dad (who just passed) showing me this when my grandfather passed in the 90’s. Thank you for any help in this matter.

That's a very nice and sought after Smith. It's not in such pristine condition that you can't fire it occasionally....they are wonderfully accurate. Fwiw I recently sold my Triple Lock in slightly lesser condition for 2500.00.

Wow that’s amazing to know. Any idea on how to look up the year? I looked all over google and can’t seem to find any info on it. I was under the impression my grandfather had that in World War II. But I’m not sure if that in fact is the case. It doesn’t seem to have any kind of military markings on it or anything that would insinuate government issue.

I believe it dates to 1914-1915. You can get a factory letter. Info is on this site. The US did not issue the Triple Lock, but the British bought around 5000 or so in or converted to .455 caliber, for use in WW1.
