JUST MUSINGS

Over the years, I have called many my friend. Now, not near as many. I am very fortunate. I have been pretty stationary all my life, so it's been easy to keep my close friends. Nearly all are either local or within a few hours drive. I have had to "cull" some through the years. One, who I had culled around 40 years ago, because of his heroin addiction, finally turned his life around, and has subdued his demons for almost 20 years now. We are buds again now, even though he lives 4 hours away. I am very proud of him, for he has fought a battle that many of us believed he lost long ago. Most of my friends are from grade school, to early adulthood. Male and female, they are my "family" that I choose.

I feel fortunate to have some very good friends in Tennessee. Funny thing... the guys that I feel closest to are on the other side of the country that I grew up through elementary, junior high and high school. Even though I don't see them for many years between visits, I think I know them better than guys I regularly hang with.
