Remember the old Jack Webb TV series "Dragnet"? His famous line was "Just the facts, ma'am!"

This might touch a few nerves but I prefer reading Classified posts that stick to the facts. Just give me the pertinent information and skip the phrases such as: "Rare find", "Selling for a friend", "Won't last at this price", "Final drop then it goes on GB", "Minimum price or it goes back into the safe" and "no longer manufactured".

Describe the gun, give the price, and post the photos. Just the facts. Forget the sales pitch.

Agreed - if fact if "Rare Find" or "Rare" is in the title of the ad I don't even read it. No sense even posting an ad without photos IMHO. I don't care if it's NIB or LNIB - without the photos, I move on to something else. What the seller thinks is like "NIB" or "Excellent" and what I think are many times two different things. Just my opinion.

Pete

Are you sure? I've got a "minty" LNIB .44Magnum Pre-29 that was used during WWI at the "Battle of the Bulge" that I could let go for $3,000.00. Unfortunately, I can't send pictures because my camera was eaten by the dog, but, trust me, this one is "Rare!"

kinda like....Joe's famous beef jerky or Jane's famous peach pie. If it's truly famous,do you have to be told so?

Total Recall

Rule3,

I see you're an old Dragnet fan. Well done on the show's opening line! You nailed it.

The young forum members don't know what we're talking about.

This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm a cop.

We were working the day watch out of the classified (bunko) squad.
Remember this one that came along a little later?
"When ever the laws of any state are broken a duly authorized Organization swings into action. It may be the state police, the State Troopers, the militia, the Rangers....or THE HIGHWAY PATROL."

....or THE HIGHWAY PATROL."

But then you knew you were in for a treat. Fat old Brodrick Crawford would drop the bad guy with a 100 yard shot from his snubby. After a whole gang of cops had emptied their long barrel revolvers at the same bad guy. My dad liked the show, so we all had to watch it. That was back in the B&W tv days, and it was the only TV in the house. By the time I was in high school things got better. Walking the 2 miles to school one garbage day, a family had a pretty darn nice B&W out at the curb.

Being a goodie-goodie, I went up and knocked at the door and asked if I could have it, and if it worked. She said yes, they were tossing it because they bought a color set. So I asked if I could move it to their car port, and she agreed.

After school I recruited one of my friends to help me tote it home. He thought it was funny that I wanted it, but he agreed. It was a lot of work, and it weighed over 100#. But I got it home and my dad saw it and commented it was better than ours!! But he still let me move it upstairs to my bedroom. I felt like the richest kid in the world. Later, in college, the dorm had a color set in the lounge. As long as you wanted to watch what the football players wanted, you were welcome.

All I can really remember of Highway Patrol was Crawford standing outside of his cruiser, mike in hand, saying "21-50 to headquarters"....

Tom

Yup..one of those big old Buicks or Oldsmobiles can't remember which but it probably weighed 5 or 6k.

No, no, no.

I did some long hauling a few years back and when I got my xm radio going I was able to listen to old time radio. Dragnet was one of my favorites, along with Gunsmoke!

I can hear his voice as I read that :)
The one, the only Mr. Jack Webb.

Don't forget the future Colonel Sherman T. Potter - aka Officer Bill Gannon

JACK WEBB---Hummm. Not a disparanging post by any means but His and his friends drinking bouts--off the set & on--are as legendary as Huston or Wayne's were.
Course those were the days when hard drinking was acceptable.
HUMMMM---I hope so----I have been in a few of those things before.
I like the DI---one of my favorites.
Blessings

You mean they went and changed that, too? Its still acceptable as far as I'm concerned. Of course these days its much cheaper. Remember the old One tequila, two tequila, three tequila floor? We used to have pride, but there's no room for it now.

Along with that I'll always remember his "ten faw, ten faw."
