K-22 accuracy after reaming with a Finish reamer

Federal semiauto target .22lr uses narrower brass. That is all I can use in my "tight" pre-war Colt!

I'm kinda staying on topic as far as accuracy in a 22lr I just bought a Waltz sizer die it makes the bullets a larger diameter usually about .001 I'm anxious to try it out but doubt I'd see much improvement in my F.A. or my 617 depending on ammo being used. The Norma match it tight in the chambers which explains accuracy but on the cheaper ammo that runs a bit undersized it will probably improve accuracy. I will do some testing soon. For some reason he claims that it really improves Wolf ammo which I do have some.

I have an early 60s K 22 and with modern ammo ejection of shells is tight. I have a few old boxes of 60s Winchester ammo and I fired a few cylinders and they ejected flawlessly. I think the chambers were made tighter back then and the ammo was made to fit. I also have problems with some older SxS shotguns ejecting steel head shells, brass shells work fine but very few manufacturers make them

The barrel groove diameters have changed over time as well they are usually .002 over what they used to be.

Different types and brands of firearms shoot better with one ammo than others sometimes. Nothing shoots better in my .22 auto loaders than CCI standard velocity 40 grain bullets. As for my Model 18's, M63 and Colt's they like CCI 40 grain Mini Mags (High Velocity). My CZ 453 American rifle also likes the Mini-Mags. While they pack much more of a punch, the CCI Velocitor's won't win any accuracy contests in any of my guns. I have had the absolute worst luck with any kind of Ely brand target ammo in any of my guns. For me, the stuff just won't group!

CCI standard is real good ammo for the price I just purchased another 5k rounds we have the bullseye matches started next week it really shoots well in my Browning Buckmark !

I took out all my S&W revolvers and fired them at 20 yrds using my home built Ransom rest. Some of them had reamed cylinders and others did not All of them fired similar groups. But, if I remember right the best group was fired by on with a reamed cylinder. I did a post on it.

The only sure way to tell would be fire several groups using a machine rest from a cylinder, then ream it and repeat the test

Personally I do not believe there is any way removing .0001 or .0002, if that, from reaming a cylinder chamber will effect accuracy. The size of the cuttings and the amount of material removed from reaming a S&W cylinder is really small. There is more variation in endshake and rotational slack from the necessary clearances for the cylinder stop to operate and the cylinder to rotate on the yoke and that will vary some from chamber to chamber.
