I had some business in Augusta, Ga yesterday and knew they had a new Cabella's so I stopped by and wandered through. Got over to the used handgun section and partially covered by handguns on higher shelves was a S&W. The large tag was clearly visible "S&W K-32 $1099.00". I squatted down quickly to get a better look and there it was, one of the rarest K-32's ever made, the one without target sights. Yea, a 90% 32 hand ejector mismarked as a K-32, FOR ELEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS! On the same shelf was a 90% Colt detective special for $900. I eased over to the optics section and got a new binocular strap (hey, it was only $22, I could afford it). Any of you looking for part time job, they might could use some help labeling and pricing their used guns.

I went in the Columbus, Ohio store to sell them a couple of rifles. There was a new guy in the Gun Library. He offered me way too low ( they say they pay 60% of what they think it'll bring) I noticed that since the 3 new stores have opened they aren't buying as much. It was nice while it lasted. Ivan

A friend of mine bought a very nice 38/44 which was marked (and priced) as a Pre mod. 10 at the St Louis Cabela's. He didn't mention anything until the transaction was complete, then told them what they just sold for about 1/4 of what it was worth.

Gander Mtn. has used handguns with rifle listed as type of gun. Descriptions on FHN'S have wrong model designation on them. I brought up the rifle thing over a year ago. Still that way. Bob

I know what you mean. Local GM has two model 28's. A four inch, much older gun in great shape is priced at $649. A six inch, newer gun (but clearly worth much less) is priced at $849. I asked why they were priced that way and was told that one was a Model 28 and the other was a Highway Patrolman and a Highway Patrolman was much more valuable.

Interesting thing is that they had the four inch earlier (it was gone for a while, but same serial) and it was priced at $499. I tried to buy it for $400 and they laughed at me. It disappeared for a while and when it went back in the case it was priced at $649.

Always check any Cabelas when ever you are able, as more than once over the years I've picked up a seriously mis marked firearm for peanuts, like a very nice Reg. Magnum, called a Mod. 27, for $ 750. Ed.

Lived and worked in STL for 20 years until I retired last fall. Cabela's. I went by the Library on a regular basis. I hated it when they moved the handguns to the new handgun area and put them in the feeding area for new guns.

I found lots of long guns and a few handguns mismarked there. Mostly clunker stuff or wrong caliber on the tag.
Never anything like a RM for cheap.
I saw lots of 350 dollar guns marked for $600 though. Early on it was a good place to trade, that aspect died out.

I picked up a nice K38 at cabela's for $399. Say they listed it at 599 and if it don't sell after a week then they knock down the price to 499 next week if it don't sell it off another $100.Has the target trigger and hammer. Doesn't have the trigger my old colt trooper III in 357 mag but is extremely accurate. Frank
