K-38 CM from'53

This one finally got sprung from the Ca. jail. Won it on a GB auction May 31. When it got to my dealers from Wa. state the DOJ put a hold on it. After about a month of waiting the dealer I bought it from refunded my money. It was finaly released yesterday & I had to buy it again. I guess it was worth the wait!!

Kinda pairs up with my K 22.

Oops I see I said '53 should be '52.

Definitely worth the wait and the aggravation. The Combat Masterpiece is a fine revolver, and that is a fine example of the design. Congratulations.

It's just the icing on the cake that you have a five-screw 22 CM to keep it company. What a great pair!

Does anyone have a guess on shipping date? It's K1177**. I could only narrow it down to a range of 1951-1957.

Your's is a little older than mine (mine is 1189xx). Looks like 1951 also.

K1401xx. Probably early in 1952. I see in the original post I said '53. Should have said '52. My bad.

Nice lookin pistolas. I've been bit by the K bug myself. I've been able to pick up a K-22 and a K-38, both with 6" barrels. Both are within the 1950 serial number range. So now I'm on the hunt for a K-32. By the way, did you ever find out why the DOJ put a hold on yours?

DOJ wouldnt tell me anything,but the dealer I bought it from said it had ties to a 1980s court case. Whatever it was it now has a clean bill of health!

My K-38 Combat Masterpiece was my Great-Uncle's police service revolver. He gave it to my father in the mid 60s, and was the first handgun I ever shot. I got it when my father passed away in '04. The serial number on mine is K137XXX, and I was told it was manufactured in late '51 or early '52. She's not perfect, but she'll always be mine!!
