My roommate and I went to the range today. I decided to make it a K frame day. She took a Ruger LC9, a Beretta 71, and the Smith & Wesson M10-10, that I gave her for Christmas, this year. I shot Models 18, 19-4 4”, with ivory grips, 19-5 2.5”, 66 4”. The M10 and M66 are former LE guns, the Model 10 being neglected a lot and shot very little, by some department in France. The 66 came from CPD, and was used quite a bit, but is still quite a shooter.
I took all my shots between 25’ and 25 yards, mostly 2 handed, double action, some one hand bullseye style. Mostly happy with results. Need to adjust elevation on K22. Need some new glasses, too.
She fell in love with her Model 10, especially the trigger. She shot it so much better than her other 2 pistols.
I rarely shoot the 19-4. It’s just too pretty, but I ran 25 rounds of 158 grain .38 Special, through it. What a joy! the ivory starts to feel warm and alive after the first cylinder.
50 rounds of .357 158 Swc for the 19-5. I really dig the fire and fury that bellow out of that little snub. And it’s just as accurate at 25 yards as any of the others, if I can keep from flinching.

Looks like you had an excellent day at the range. I always have at least 3 k-frames with me when I go to range. Just seem so well balanced to me. I have several N-frames but seem to gravitate to the smaller K frames. Very nice looking group you have there. Model 19's loaded with wadcutters are most enjoyable.

That is quite a collection, all stunning on their own, together they'er most impressive.

The ivories are something special.

Kobsw and Daddio,
Thank you for the kind words! My collection isn't a large one; all of my K frames are on display in this thread, but I'm always on the lookout for something vintage that catches my eye, and feels good in the hand.
Regards,
George

Every day is a good range day. I got to mine early Friday and was a good thing. When I was leaving there was a waiting list. That is a nice collection and not surprised your roomy like the model 10 over the semis.

They are all really nice. My fondness is starting to change though. I love that Model 18. There's something about them adjustable sighted, no under lugged barrel guns.

Looking at your target I see a couple warning shots but as for the rest, I'd say he's in hurtsville. All in all, great double action shooting!

I'm plotting to make a trip to the range with my three K-Masterpiece set. Oddly enough, the holdup is not the K-32, for which I've got a bunch loaded, it's the K-38. Although I have both a Star Progressive and a Dillon Progressive set up in 38 Special, I've been too "busy" to get down to the shop and load up a batch of target ammo in that caliber. :(

I do indeed have something to look forward to for the New Year! :D

Went again yesterday

Thanks, Chief!
Went back yesterday, with the M10-8, that I just bought for myself, from Bud's. I cleaned up the inside, and swapped out some springs (first time, for me). Smooth as silk and no misfires! I also took my M18. Adjusted the rear sight a little, over the course of the session .
This time I tried shooting with both eyes open, two hand, double action, 25 yards. sitarting to get a little better results.

Thanks, ABPOS!
I, too, have started gravitating toward the no-underlug style. And, I never used to care for fixed sight guns, but now, I am really starting to like them, as well.

I do most of my shooting both eyes open .Keep practicing that technique once you master it you will never go back to one eye open .The man that taught me was a cop and he made shooting a DA revolver look magical .Then again he did run thru several hundred rounds a week with one .

K-frame fun. Great looking guns. I cleaned a 19-5 and 66-2 today from my last outing.
Thanks, LPD. Yeah, there always seems to be a dirty girl or two, needing a bath, around here. My cleaning rod and Ballistol have been regular fixtures on the dining room table, lately.

Went the local indoor range yesterday... hadn’t had time to go for well over a month, and WOW, WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT!! It’s a little 5 lane, 25 yard range and when it was built they didn’t think out the lighting vey well. Now the walls are brighter and each firing bay has its own control for turning its light on and off as well as a slider control for brightness. Very nice indeed, (but now another of my excuses for bad shooting is gone.)

They also have their own targets custom printed and the big 16x24” six bull targets are great for sighting in revolvers and warming up for serious Bullseye shooting.

I’m still sorting out my recreated K-32 and I think i’ve About got my loads figured out. My K-22 as usual had to be satisfied with the bulk box of Federal Auto Match I had open... but it was so happy to be let out to play, it didn’t seem to mind. ;)

Didn’t get time to load any 38s for the old K-38, so it had to stay home and sulk. :(. Gotta get myself down to the shop and rebuild my supply of 32s and get some 38s at the same time. :) Really need to keep my trio of K Masterpieces happy! :D

Aaaaaaaah, that's really good shooting for 25 yards double action. In my opinion.

OK, now you have lost another good excuse for lousy shooting... you have a couple of good solid guns that get the job done if you do your part. Now you have to get out to the range and work on your own skills. I call it "tightening up the nut on the butt" and as with most of us, it's something I need to do more often.
