I noticed that S&W recently removed the K-frame from the frame selector on their website, so the two 617 models (4" and 6"), the M17 Masterpiece, the two M48 models (4" and 6") and the 648 can no longer be found when a frame size is selected.

Is S&W fading out K-frame production? Are there any other current production K-frame models besides the .22 caliber revolvers?

I suspect it is more a case of their web site being in need of a review by someone who actually understands the products. None of the frame options link to the 617 and there are other oddities as well.

They sure did remove the K-Frame from their frames list. They do show 2 versions of the Model 19 and one each of the Model 10 and 48 in the catalog. I guess the snow flakes have creeped into the door at S&W also.

I think they have changed the K-frame listing to the Classic lineup! About 2-3 weeks ago I was looking at the M-19's and they weren't listed as "Classic's" the best I remember and now, besides the Performance Center model I only see the 4" model with no 6" available..

Listed as a Classic......

Here's how it works. Yesterday was Friday. Whoever was working on the website and linking all the currently remaining K-frames and reactivating the K-frame link in the "BROWSE FIREARMS" link, likely, had the usual Friday 4pm "Zoom" meeting; then the meeting was over ~hour later @5pm.

The meeting was closed with "Everyday go home; it's Friday; have a nice weekend". Somebody most-likely will work on the K-frame-website-issue next week before Christmas/holiday shut-down.

:) However, it's been a week or two since the K-frame went missing.

Simply stated, it is not an easy site to work with. While the Models 64 and 67 are slated to be discontinued, I still found them on the site, with some difficulty however. I just found it much easier to use the Search function with the Model number. Less muss and fuss. Be safe.

Isn't S&W in the process of being spun off into a separate (from the prior holding company) operating entity, including a separate stock exchange listing? Although they always had what looked like their own web site, is it possible that it was somehow connected to the holding company site, and has to be split off? If so, glitches would be expected.

Whoever was managing the site got lost in a cyber sale and thats how business works between Thanksgiving and Christmas in America

The entry in the frames list was changed from "K/L-Frame" to "L-Frame", and the page's logic was altered to now (correctly) exclude the K-frame revolvers when this entry is selected. This is not something someone would do by accident.

Buy maybe they just forgot to add a new "K-Frame" item in the list. If they'd do that, the website would be better than before, as it could now distinguish between K-frame and L-frame revolvers.

Dealers usually know what's available. There are often things available that isn't reflected on the company website and vice versa. Colt is notorious for not having a coherent or up to date web site. My guess they just hire some computer geek that knows nothing about product and that person has to update from information that is more or less a foreign language to them.

For instance, about 10 years ago I got it in my head I wanted a two tone Colt Combat Elite. It was on their website but wasn't available for well over 2 years. When they finally became available again I had lost interest.

You can search distributor inventory yourself. If they have it there's a good chance it's still in production.

The model 64 and 67 is still on the S&W web page, but they where marked as discontinued in the 2021 distributor pricelist we got and they will not take any new orders on those models. It could be that they still are in production and fulfilling orders for the US market for the time being, and they have just stopped taking orders from international customers since the gun sales in America is at an all time high and that the government is extremely slow in processing export applications.

Except the model 10, it looks like they are concentrating on snub nose K frames.
