Hi all
Looks like 1961
Numbers match under barrel, rear cylinder, under ejector, bottom of grip.
I feel this is not a legit U.S. stamp.
Serial # C56662
Grips ? No numbers.
P stamp top of barrel.
R stamp right side near top screw.
S stamp right side front of trigger guard.
Any info would be appreciated.
I have been wanting a k-frame round snub but with the half moon front sight but I might have paid too much for this one. Seller may work with me if I did.
Thanks

Looks legitimate to me. But I am sure that there is more to the story than I know about. Hopefully an expert will be along soon with some more information.

Snub

If it's just a 1949 snub what is a ballpark price estimate?
I like the configuration from this era.
Came from a collector named Bill Blanch, which I don't recognize his name but what do I know.
Thanks

Someone most likely fitted a set of wartime Victory model square frame stocks to your round butt. To my knowledge, the factory never made round butt smooth service stocks like those.

I knew Bill Blanch. He was a retired dentist who was, first and foremost, a collector of M1911 pistols since the 1960s. He had a huge collection and was extremely knowledgeable on the .45s, but would have readily conceded that S&Ws were not a collecting focus of his.

All collectors who have been in the game long enough have made a few mistakes on guns. (Me, too.) I think this one was one of his.

Regards,
Charlie

I have heard about his 1911 collection.
Thanks
