So, I ordered a new 3” Carry Comp last week. Should be at my dealer on Tuesday (7/5). I’m not really a .357 Magnum fan, but I’m considering eventually getting a .357 lever gun with threaded barrel to suppress (have a Griffin Bushwhacker 46, so could do that or bump up to .44; just think .38 loads would be better suppressed). Lately, I’ve been looking at grips to go with the gun.

I have large hands (XL gloves), so the standard wood grips that come with the revolver are likely not going to work out. I know it comes with rubber grips, but wanted to do something different than that.

Looking at Hogue’s website, I’m seeing a few variations that are catching my eye. I really like the G10s with the Piranha grip. I have a set on my CZ SP-01 and have been extremely happy with them. But they convert the grip to square butt dimensions. If it’s similar to my 629-1… I’m not really against it, just for a 3” gun, I’m leaning towards smaller being better.

I’m also looking at the wood round grips… checkered with full finger grooves. Figured that carrying it, which would likely be fall into winter, it would be decent in OWB under a shirt/jacket.

Looking for anyone that traveled down this road… and what their impressions were.

Thanks for taking a look.

I have a 66-2, and a 10-5. Both are wearing Herrett Stocks. They are not overly large. The grips on the 10 started out as checkered square butt. Got rid of the checkering and reshaped to round butt. Bob

They look nice!

I’ll probably pick up the revolver on Monday… but looks like it comes with a rubber grip that is similar to a full size round butt grip. I guess I’ll see how it feels, and if I don’t like it… I’ll order the square butt conversion.

I've got XL-XXL hands. Really short fingers, but broad and thick. I generally find that I prefer a square butt conversion. They just feel more solid and predictable to me, and the concealability factor seems slight. I personally don't like finger grooves, but we all have our preferences.

I shot one of my lever action .357s last week with a Rugged Obsidian .45 can on it. That thing just may have been the most fun I've had while fully clothed.
