Can some one please tell me about what year speed loader cut outs started on K frame target Grips. Thanks in advance. Couldn't find the answer on a search.

Hi
I don't know how definitive this is as to when they began to ship. But I do know that a Model 14-4 that letters to July, 1980, came with them. It may have been earlier than that, but it was not later.

I'm thinking it was 1967'ish for the footballs and then 1980'ish as well for the true speedloader cutout.

Actually, I think the first "football" release was quite a bit earlier than that. The unrelieved stocks only shipped exclusively in the early 1950s. Sometime around the mid-1950s (maybe 1953?), relieved targets started to appear. The "coke" style had a relief, for example (I realize those were for the N frame).
But you are right, the speed loader cutout was much later.

Agreed. I thought that was odd actually that they were out on the N Frames that much earlier. Why they waited for K frames to enjoy that until the later 60's??? Who knows, just part of the Smithology.
