Does anyone what steel is currently used in K frame guns both blue and stainless.

More than likely 4140 and 416.

Nearly all modern blue guns are 4140 and most SS guns are 410 or 416 or a combination of various parts being one or the other.
For example, slides and frames are usually different alloys to prevent galling. Two parts of the same SS alloy rubbing on each other will often gall and seize up.

An awful lot of rifle barrels are made of 4130.
