Bought these off of Ebay, now I'm gonna have to buy another pistol for them.

I wasn't aware there were any cheap ones.:D

Well there was the 100 dollar set of Ropers or the 30 dollar cokes.
But yeah my favorite set was up there.
No regrets though as they made my favorite gun or completed it.

I just wish that the folks that are making or selling "Roper" style stocks would say "Roper style" and not call them Ropers.

Someone new to the hobby might purchase a set thinking that they are the original Roper stocks only to find out that only Roper or Gagne made the real originals. If these were a $10 item, tough lesson learned but at several hundred a pair that's a gut kick.

I'm gonna have to pickup a set of these in Walnut now since I have these in Olive wood.

Gonna start making rounds in the pawn shops and local gun store. I have not been in a pawn shop in over 6 or 7 years at least. I've only bought from them a time or two and never pawned anything. I have a new(about 6 years old never fired) Sig P938 I might be looking to make a trade for a 6" barrel in 22, 38, 357 or 44 caliber. I just as soon pickup a 38 then a 44 caliber pistol.

Since it's been this long since you've shopped at a pawn shop, get ready for some sticker shock.

I’ll go out on a limb and identify the stocks in the OP as having come from Altamont. When they were last in stock I believe they sold for $75-85 a set. I put a set on my Model 16-3 homage and at first glance they looked great but the surface finish was too something... they just didn’t look right. Maybe the finish was too obviously sprayed on instead of rubbed in. Also, for my hands at least, they seemed too skinny. I asked their customer service folks about the possibility of having a pair of their Coke profile blanks being finished off with Roper style checkering but I got a hard no! It appears they make standard runs only. :(

They are a bit skinny. Which is fine with the lighter recoiling calibers/guns. I wouldn't want one on a lightweight magnum. But on an all-steel .38 I think they work well.
