My buddy and I both carried Model 19s when we were cops. We both retired in the late eighties.

He still has his (damn it!) but the timing is screwed up.

Is there anything that I can fix or can someone talk ne through fixing it for him?

Send it to S&W. I know it'll cost a few bucks to ship it but they have put a few back on track for me over the years, and they go through and replace everything that needs it. The last one they did for me is the tightest gun I own outside of my Freedom arms.

The total cost including shipping both ways wasn't too bad either.:)

pick up a copy of "the s&w revolver" shop manual by jerry kuhnhausen. you won't become an expert overnight but i consider it a must for smith owners. many small repairs you can do at home, more complicated jobs you may want to send the gun out. you will fully understand the operation of the gun and problems you can expect to encounter.
