K22 2nd Model questions

I need some help with a K22/40 I found:

Doesn't have the notched hammer.
Smooth trigger.
Cocked hammer looks like long action.
SN 691xxx
Has micro rear sight.

I found some old posts the other day regarding the non-notch hammer but can't seem to find again.

The rear sight does have the correct Patent Number stamped on top.

There's a 1.60 and a diamond stamped on left side of grip frame and on barrel flat to right of the SN.

The gun has been re-blued, apparently by S&W.
It carries walnut service stocks with 685xxx SN stamped on right stock.

Asking $2k for it.

What bothers me most is the long action setup.

Yes, the gun was refinished in 1/60 as indicated by the B on the grip frame and the diamond on grip frame and barrel indicate the barrel was replaced.

The hammer w/o notch has been observed before. Here are some threads you may not have seen:

Thanks for the links Hondo44. I remember reading a couple of those but couldn't find them again. They're very helpful.
I didn't know about the specific meaning of the diamond stamping with regard to barrel swap. I wonder why that might have been necessary.
Also, the barrel finish looks like a refinish, however the frame and cylinder do not appear to me to have been refinished.

Masterpiece, I was wondering if anyone else had run across this particular gun, and if so share any info on it. Thanks for the link that coincidentally was revived about an hour ago.

Just because it's a K22/40, I offered $1,500 for it, but the lowest they'd go was just over $1,800.

Like Hoosier before me, I have to think about it.

The frame is definitely refinished - notice how the rebound spring stud (just above the grip frame) is buffed flush with the frame. On an unmolested pre war gun it would still be domed.

Well if I can get them to go for $1500 I'll buy it. I may never see another one. And if I do, I'll buy it too.
