I am looking to buy at what I believe to be a Pre-Model 18. 1957 K22 Combat Masterpiece, 4 screw, 4" barrel, Ser#K2938XX. Looks to be in fairly good condition for it's age, with no box. Also, not sure if grips have serial number on back. Any information is helpful, including value. Thank you in advance!

I'd expect to buy it where I shop at $650-$700ish as Paul says. Probably would be priced higher but it shows wear and use, so should sell in that range. Good luck.

I just bought an 18 no dash last month. Looks to be about same condition as yours. I paid 800 out the door. Am quite happy with it. Grips are serial numbered to it.

You didn't mention the asking price. The values quoted above are probably in the ball park. but if I wanted it, I would negotiate his best price and pony up. Those old .22s are not seen very often, and the cost is rising. You can look long and hard and spend lots of money to find another one and the price will still be high. So, when I am in that position, I will spend a little more than I wanted to. It seems that in a couple of years it really no longer matters, as the going price is much higher than I invested. And you get to shoot it during that time! Priceless!!

I have not seen one of these from this era with factory-shipped target hammer & trigger and suspect they were swapped out later. I would not allow the seller to assign a premium for them unless, of course, he could show a letter. While the TH & TT are valuable as parts they also detract from the originality. A wash.
