K22 hammer

Picked up a 5 screw K22 and the hammer spur has me curious. This gun is an early 50s gun with a serial number of K1419xx.

Was this hammer massaged or is it some factory variation.

Thinking it was customized as gun sports a trigger shoe and the grips are not correct. They are magnas that don't match, but I do have a set of diamond magnas and some K frame targets so that don't bug me. Hammer doesn't really bug me either as I am not a purist, but it does have me curious.

When S&W upgraded the pre war "long action" to the post war "high speed short action" the target guns got the new High Speed wide target hammer. Fixed sighted guns got the flat sided version. They've been nicknamed the fish hook hammers. That's the hammer you have and proves your gun has the new high speed action and is not an early post war Transitional Model.

These hammers were replaced ~ 1956 with the more familiar .500" target and .375" wide hammers.
