I took my K22 out for the first time today. It is a dream to shoot. Double action shooting is almost as effortless as single action. I traded a Ruger Single Six for it. Such a joy to reload be in comparison to a single action.

Hi,
I know what you mean. My tastes in 22s tends towards high end target stuff like vintage Hämmerli.
But, having shot a few nice K22s, I must say they are a joy to shoot. I personally take great satisfaction in the handling and operational characteristics of my shooting irons.
The K22 is right up there!

Best Regards,
Jim

K-22... everybody ought to have one if they have no other revolvers. They've done duty all the way from the target range, to small game hunting, to slaughter houses for for hogs and cattle. If there is such a thing as the all around, do everything revolver, the K-22 is a leading contender.

You say this, but the K22 isn't getting much love in the "Top 5 revolvers" thread. It's on my list for sure.

A K22 is a Smithofile's greatest gift. It's accuracy at it's purest and the best mechanical revolver ever!

You know polls are always wrong. ;)

Real shooters are too busy shooting to spend time responding to polls... we barely have time to answer queries on the S&W Forum! :D

I agree 100%. Just wondering - was that trade an even swap?
If so, I'd like you to come negotiate for my next new car!!
Yowzah, what a deal!

otis24: I really like Your new ((( OLD ))) S&W K-22. I bought a used older K-22 not long ago myself that is a carbon copy of Your gun. Right down to the same type of old fashion Grip Adapters that came on mine to. And as You said it is just a dream to shoot. And IMHO it is a pure joy for me to just know I finally own a really nice K-22. After really wanting one of them, for so many years. I have really enjoyed shooting my K-22 so far. Because not only does my old K-22 make me very proud I own it. My K-22 has already made me a much better Pistol Shot than I have ever been before.

I bought a 1937 . . . pre-K22(?) eight years ago or so. It had been reblued, a good job of it, in the 70s according to the seller. I sold it to a friend who wanted a 22lr, but he ended up selling it back to me because he wanted a 4" gun. I tried to sell it again twice, but no one was willing to pay the $450 I was asking for it. Now, it's my favorite plinker.

I don't understand people that would pay $550 for a new Ruger sp-101, or $400 for a Taurus tracker, but wouldn't pay $450 for a tight smooth shooting S&W from before the a-bomb.

I got my 17-2 (1964) last July, "Buy it now" for $550. I don't have original stocks. It came with Goodyears. I added these for the time being. What a sweet shooter! Bob

The s&w k22 is made by the old world craftsman they took pride in their trade. Mine a 1948 masterpiece target and I purchased it for my grandson. Next came the n frames.

Another sweet 22 revolver is the colt officers target model built on the larger 41 colt frame. Ah heck I like them all.

I think mine is qualified to be a K22, it's an 18-3, so it's a 4" K frame .22.

In any event, it shoots so smooth and accurately I am beyond impressed.

First round I fired, I thought it misfired, so light was the recoil, but there on the target was the tell-tale hole.
