Congratulations Miles42. I guess you know, we all love to see pictures of new acquisitions; especially NIB examples like yours! :)

Well done, while mine has minor bit of wear it was offered at a price I couldn't say no to. I probably smile more shooting mine than any other revolver I own.

My -3 (1971) only came with the original number magnas but I got the period correct targets here on the forum, fit my hand much better.

Congratulations, Miles42!
Good taste in S&W.......
Several years ago I was looking for one. I found two at the same place at the same time, both pre-model, and in original boxes. I figured I would sell one and keep the other. They are both still sharing space in the safe. I'd add a third if it came along......

Congrats OP on that excellent find!

My 17-3 is also 1971 and came with 3T's right from the factory.

Wonderful shooter, excellent trainer for the younger kids.

Need to see some pics, especially when you found a "complete package" and I too use estate sales as a primary source when "in the hunt"

All this time I've thought my standard barrel, narrow rib 1948 vintage K-22 was all the 22 revolver I would ever need, but these 17-2 and -3 models sure are getting tempting. I'll have to stage a self intervention here if it gets much worse!

Mr Green -

I was in your shoes ... I had an early 30's .22 Outdoorsman , a MKI , and a Single Six ; thought I was all set for .22 handguns. Eventually I fell prey to the siren song of the S&W mod.17 - got the long barreled option w/ the 3 "T's" , and I could not be happier about it. Intervention? You don't need no stinkin' intervention!

IMO , everyone who appreciates revolvers needs to own a 17!

Miles - you got yours at 75 , I bit at 65. Congratulations to you. Many happy range trips await you.

I love my 17-3 with the TH and TT. For stocks I prefer the smooth Jerry Miculek style.

Did someone say 17 no dash? [emoji23]

Seriously tho, everyone should own at least one M17! Mine is from about 1960 and is relatively new to me with the 3T's. And I waited too long to get one also (61).
