K22, serial # K 43447. Please tell me what year this was made? Thanks.

Most likely Sept. 1948, however, S&W did not ship in s/n order and guns have been known to ship years later then the others numbered around them.

K43411 shipped Sept. 1948.

FWIW, K85403 shipped in June 1950 and K23233 shipped in May 1948.

You can do a very UN scientific mathematical approach using the above numbers.

If you subtract 23233 from 85403, it represents 62,170 guns or serial numbers. May 1948 to June 1950 represents around 25 months or 2486 per month. K43447 would fall around January or February of 1949. Again, very un scientific and does not take into account if other models used any of these serial numbers or the fact that S&W did not necessarily produce the same amount of guns in any given month.

Strictly done for fun. Would be interesting to know the real ship date.

K22 date

Thank you. The gentleman that I bought it from said that he bought it in late 1948. He served in the Army in the pacific in WW11.

You are probably safest saying that your K 43447 shipped in late 1948. I list a couple of K-series revolvers having lower SNs which shipped in Oct and Nov 1948.

Are you saying K3014xx or K3014X. Since the examples that were mentioned are 5 digit serial numbers I will answer that using my UN scientific numerical example K3014X would probably have shipped in August or September of 1949.

If you are asking about K3014XX then I can give you K371714 that shipped in October of 1959 and guesstimate that K3014XX probably shipped in the spring of 1959.

Again just WAG's and the only way to know for sure is to either letter the gun for $75 or join the S&WCA for $60/year and have access to Roy Jinks who can give you up to 52 shipping dates per year. ;)
