Well after several days without sleep I decided to buy a Model 17 no dash that showed up at the local dealers. The serial number K 32666x puts it at 1958. This is my third K22. I just can't help myself, I Love them.

Well at least you picked a great gun to fall in love with, no safe squirrels for miles!

A couple of years ago I found a Model 17, S/N 332XXX, also from 1958. It looked beautiful, but the barrel was plugged up with lead and the cylinder didn’t index properly. I sent it to the factory and they could weld up the locking notches and recut them or for the same money put in a new cylinder. I went with the new cylinder. Now with the barrel clean and the chambers indexing, it is super accurate. Sweet.

Beautiful gun, neat backyard and I like the grip adapter. I'll pass on the snow, though.

PS-Photos are awesome; especially the 1st one.

Allow me to put on my Enabler hat and validate your addiction. Those are fine guns. Make yourself happy and get some more.

I'm not sure how many .22s I have now, but I know it's a bunch. I don't think a person can have too many of them. My holdings are diversified between I-frames and K-frames, but S&W made so many fine .22s that it's hard to turn one down in any size.

I started with a K22 6-7 years ago and they have multiplied a bunch. Those are great guns and once you have enough K22's you can start with the M18's, Kit Guns, etc, etc. It never ends!

Nice K22's!

I've got some bad news for the OP. If he thinks owning only 3 of them is a problem, he's in for some tough sledding in the future. There was a time, a decade ago, when I realized I had a problem with them. But it was because I had 3 Dozen of them. So I did the obvious, I sold off 2 dozen. I still look at every one of them I see, but I won't buy one now unless its better than one I currently own. That doesn't happen very often.

Thanks to All. I am hoping in the future to find a 6" Model 35 for my Grand Daughter. I like most I imagine on here grew up with a .22 of somekind that we cut our teeth on. Dad had an old 922 H&R. I grew up reading alot of Skeeter Skelton's articles and always Loved the one's on S&W's K22 that he wrote.

I recently managed to finally replace the last K22 I traded off with a nice shootable specimen. There is something addicting about them, they are very accurate little pistols, silky smooth action. I'm attracted to the 5-screw models and see someone has one for sale right now...hmmm
I had a model 41 years ago, I think this K-22 is more accurate, maybe its the way it fits my hand or the trigger.

k22s

I hear you cherokee....

i didn't have one until about 5 months ago and now i have two 18's, three 17's, and a pre-model k22.
