Nickel K22s are very, very rare, IF they are original factory shipped nickel K22s. A quick check is to pull the grips and look for a letter N stamped on the grip Frame, with or without a rectangle or sqaure outline around the N stamp. If it's not there, it could still be an original nickel shipped gun, but only a factory letter can verify that. If you see an RN stamp, that means a refinish to nickel, and it could have been originally shipped as a nickel gun but is a refinish, as a blue gun was taken from inventory & nickel applied to fill a dealer order when no nickel guns were in inventory.

opoefc Thanks for the info I will check that out! The piece is in really nice condition and is priced low (ie, dealer has no knowledge of what it really is,) So even if it turns out to be a refin it will make a good shooter and will have a good home. Thanks again!

Well here are some pic's. Will await the letter to get the gouge on whether the nickel is original. Has no "N" or "RN" under the grips. It shows no sign of polishing, all the markings are very crisp.

The nickeled hammer and trigger make it highly unlikely this is a factory job. That being said, it looks nice and will make a dandy shooter. Congrats!

Yes, it would be very unlikely that the Factory would nickel plate the hammer and trigger. That presents "issues" during the remainder of the building of the gun. MAK

It doesn't look nickel anyway, more like chrome with the "bluish" tint to the color. Nickel would have a yellowish tint. I'm guessing someone chromed it, certainly aftermarket.

I agree with 'smithnut' as to the "look of chrome" as well as the "parts" being done, including the rear sight body.
Also as you noted the abscence of the "marking": on the grip frame....it is an "aftermarket" job, still nice and most likely a GREAT shooter.....as long as YOU like it , thats ALL that matters really.
