I haven't been on for a few months, but I hope you like this pic of my vintage '61 model 15-1 ( aka K38 Masterpiece ). I carried one just like it when I was in the Air Force.

Man, that one has seen some use! I like the Victory Model grips.

I, too, carried one as an SP in the Air Force. I was a Colt man prior to that, but the Model 15 re-aligned me.

Here are my original holster, ammo pouches, and one round that was all I had left after a firefight!! Glad it didn't last longer!!!!! And yes I did say that it was a K38 Combat Masterpiece, but thanks for keeping an eye on things.

Nice purchase and I'm sure it brings back some great memories. It's seen a lot of use and from the pictures not a lot of tender loving care during it's life so it should be happy to be in a better place.

Lots of us old USAF cops on the Forum. That gun has certainly seen some use, hope it shoots well.

And y'all are all quick to recognize a revolver "just like the one I carried in the AF.":D

I bought a 15 at a gun show in the early 80s, actually in 1980 if I remember correctly. My cousin's husband happened to be visiting the very day I bought it. When I showed them the gun I just bought, he said, "I carried one just like it when I was in the AF." That was the first time I was aware that they had been issued to AF personnel during that time period. I believe my cousin's husband had been stationed at a facility where nukes were stored, or something similar.

I put this together a while back. Very similar to what I carried in '82-'85. I did have a smooth narrow trigger installed on the 15.

To all Air Force cops out there, I have a request. Along with my holster and ammo pouch, I also have my first set of stripes, SAC patch and beret pin and a photo of me in my uniform in Germany back in the 70's. All my other gear, including my badge, was lost in a house fire 15 years ago. I want to build a display case, but I need a replacement badge. Does anyone know where I can find one? If so, post here or send me a private note and I will be forever grateful. Also, and this is for all, should I have my K38 Combat Masterpiece stripped and re-blued. Thanks.

to S. Hammer, sweet set. My m-16 had the long solid rear stock and long triangular shaped forestock. Our first weapons actually had " Made by Mattel" on the but plate. Spent many a night out "humpin' the buff" with that thing. (do they still call it that ?)

supersmitt, imho, I would not have the K38 refinished. With the grouping you are putting together, the gun "as is" should fit in nicely. I think part of what you are trying to capture would be lost if you were to refinish the gun.

As an infantry grunt in Vietnam in 1969 we called called our M-16's Matty Mattel toys and I had a little red sticker on mine that said "Speed Kills".

I pretty much feel the same about refinishing the piece. It's in good working order and I still fire it sometimes. It has been cleared by a top gunsmith so I trust it. Just wish I could replace my badges. I was an AP, an LE and then an OSI special agent. Both badges and all my uniforms were lost in a house fire. I'm putting the display together to go with one I made for my Dad, former Air Force test crew navigator, who passed away 2 years ago. Thanks for the input, and for letting me rant. (my brother and two uncles are also ex USAF)

Thanks for the info. It is my police badge and I can even replace my service ribbons, but no OSI badge. Guess I'll keep looking for that. Thanks again.
