K38 Masterpiece

Holsters & ammo pouches

K38006.jpg
Here are my original holster, ammo pouches, and one round that was all I had left after a firefight!! Glad it didn't last longer!!!!! And yes I did say that it was a K38 Combat Masterpiece, but thanks for keeping an eye on things.

Any idea where to start looking for that type of holster and ammo pouches?

I have an extra holster, I need an ammo pouch. I am also looking for a model 15 Combat Masterpiece on the cheap. I can get it re-blued, but I live on a small disability check and can't afford much. If anyone can help, I would be most grateful, as I am building a display case for the family of my partner who was killed in action. Thank you for your replies.

dave2010, thanks, but i'm looking for a 4" with the larger grips than the "victory" grips on mine, like the ones we carried as U.S.A.F. police. And I still need the ammo pouch, and a chrome whistle with chain.

I get the wierd feeling there are a bunch of flea market military vendors who have boxes of them under a corner of a table in the back that they think they can't get rid of; it's just a mater of finding them.

I am trying to track them down on the net but need to find a way to narrow the search. Do you have an NSN, part number etc?

Saw this .38 online it does not give a model number but. it looks a bit like an M-15

dave2010, yep, that is the right pouch. They do flip down, and yes it was a pain to get the ammo out. That's why I cut slots in the back of mine so I could rake out the ammo with my thumb. As for the whistle and chain, I don't have a part number, which is why I am having such a hard time finding one. Thanks for your help.

I too was in the Air Force from 1984-1992. Stationed at McConnell AFB in Wichita Ks and Griffiss AFB in NY. I don't know if you are concerned with the whistle being original but Galls law enforcement supply has them.

My model 15 arrived

The M-15-3 I ordered arrived at the FFL dealer but I noticed that the cylinder was a bit loose. It wiggles about a millimeter while closed. The gunsmith said to try it with the trigger pulled and it didn't move near as much but still moved a slight bit. He said this was normal but is now doing a safety check on it for me, just to be sure. Have you all seen anything like this?

hunterdeneugene, thanks for the whistle connection. My collection is almost complete now. -- dave2010, all the model 15's I've had did have a tiny bit of cylinder play. It was never a problem so you should be O.K. Still looking for a 4" model 15-1 Combat Masterpiece if you run across one. Thanks for all your help.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep an eye on guns america and ebang. That is a nice piece, but as you said, a bit on the high side for a price.

def4pos8 and smitt

Interesting screename, def4...I was a SAC Minuteman crewmember 77-81 at Whiteman. I do believe your pic looks familiar. And considering the number of my buds who went to GLCM after ICBMs, we undoubtedly have some mutual acquaintances....we need to talk. Did you know Rick Carlson?

smitt - keep surfing GunBroker and AuctionArms. I just yesterday bid and won a 15-3, minty, from a dealer in Vermont - $320 delivered. There are several on both now and the price on some of them has dropped. There is a real nice 4-screw with target hammer on GB for $475 'buy-it-now.'

Like an idjit i had a nice 5-screw Combat Masterpiece, minty, made 1954, year I was born, and sold it a few years back. They now go for 2.5X what I got. By pure chance the buyer on GunBroker was a rather famous gunwriter (who shall go nameless) who said he planned to carry it while patroling his property on horseback.

That'd take me 5 minutes here in suburban Co Springs....

I was at Whiteman in 80' on an investigation. I don't remember you, so you must not have been involved. But maybe you remember a Sgt. Smith with O.S.I. asking alot of questions. Don't know about you, but those silos made me a bit clostrophobic !! Not much of a countryside to see either. Where did you serve after Whiteman? Any overseas duty?

to all current and ex Air Force police, I am searching for a chrome whistle with chain to complete my display case. Can anyone please help me find one? Thanks, Smitty

supersmitt:

Did you ever find the ammo pouch you were looking for? If not, try Pat at Shadow Warrior on 231 at Payne's Store. I think she had some a while back.

I did look at Shadow Warrior, but they didn't have the old style that I'm looking for. They didn't have any chrome whistles with the chain like we used to wear either. Guess I'll just have to keep looking.

just wondering, since i'm putting my K-38 in a display case, would it be ok to get it cold blued so it will have a cleaner look? will it affect it's performance as a sometime shooter?
