K38 Masterpiece

Is there anyone out there with an opinion about my last question? and does anyone have an old style ammo pouch for Air Force police 38?

to all current and ex Air Force police, I am searching for a chrome whistle with chain to complete my display case. Can anyone please help me find one? Thanks, Smitty

How about these? Carried them for 4 years, 1957-1961 while in the Air Police.

USAF S&W .38 Revolvers

When I worked at the USAF Gunsmith Shop at Lackland AFB a few years ago, we got an order for 6 "Inerted" .38s for use by honor guards. This was done by welding up the bores and also the action guts, so that the cylinder could not be opened or the trigger pulled. We started with 6 near-mint revolvers (all with diamond grips), and ended up with six hunks of metal good only for carrying in a holster (even though they still looked good). A sad day indeed.

texagun, would you be interested in parting with the "thunderer" whistle, and do you have the chrome chain we wore with them? I would still like to know about cold blueing my 38 for my showcase, and will it cause any problems with once in a while shooting?

I'd be glad to part with the Thunderer. I sent you an email via your profile. Cold bluing will not harm your gun and shooting a gun that has been cold blued will not harm it. If it was my gun I would leave it as-is. Some honest wear gives a gun "character," especially one that will be displayed.
