Kearsarge Stock Information Thread

I happened across a footlocker with many vintage parts. Including some Roper Stocks as well as what seems to be a set of Kearsarge. I'm curious myself what these may be worth.

Just hearing Ropers gets me all excited!

Please share some pics!

I like this kearsarge set. Wood grain is a bit different.

Does under the trigger guard area have filler? Its hard to tell.

Wow, that is quite a first post! Thanks for sharing your grips with us. Just for curiosity, did you know what Kearsarge grips were when you first saw them? I don't believe that there are many people that know about them.

Kearsarge and Ropers

I recently came across what may be a few unicorns. I've already been in email contact with Keith Brown and Sack Peterson about verification and potential sales. Yes one pair of Ropers is for a southpaw 😁. To follow up I had zero idea about Kearsarge or Even Roper. These just happened to be in a vintage footlocker I bought. I even found some left handed grips for an Udo Anschutz model 210. Talk about hand carving. I also included up close of both sides of the Kearsarge. I think for nearly a century they actually don't look bad. Probably used well 75 years ago then put in a box .... There isn't filler on them anywhere. I think the pics and tiger maple box I had em on made em look worse than they really are. 👍

Ropers and Kearsarge

To continue there were a few more sets. I will include pics. Seem to be another Lefty set for a Colt Woodsman as well as others. Even what appear to be some Herretts for a Woodsman. Pics incoming

At this point I think I am ready to see this footlocker! Is it a custom one?

Whoever owned these grips obviously was a man that liked custom made grips. Likely left handed as a few sets are ambi and the lefty set of course.

Thanks for showing the pics.
Hopefully you might consider the forum if they become available.
The whale tail Ropers are interesting.

The footlocker

You wouldn't believe me if I told ya.....it looked like a beat to hell GI footlocker Forrest Gump might have inherited.....even Green. Inside I found things from Schmeisser mags, to waffen stamped mags (gone to a collector), and parts for 1911s etc etc etc. I have many parts still to catalog. From vintage Lyman WJS sights and dovetail sights and so forth. An unused Rex Sha-Cul Muzzle Device......🤔 I had to find an old advertisement just to see what it was...Even some original Sako sights. But I will say this. For a fair price. Everything Is For Sale. It's just figuring all this stuff out.

Just back to this thread, interesting find for sure. The Kearsarge set has for sure been altered from original, and I believe it's also a pretty early set. The Colt revolver grips are interesting, but well used, the second set may be original with that fish lip top or may be altered, hard to say without more pics. The Auto grips, first two sets appear tp be Ropers, third I'm not sure and fourth set looks like Herretts.

Another set…

Kearsarge Burled Walnut stocks shown on a K-22 Outdoorsman equipped with King Super Target sights.
