Well- I made another small contribution to the NRA today and the wife and I are mulling over attending the annual meeting in Houston in May.

Everyone needs to keep up the pressure on their elected representatives in Congress. We need to be in this for the long run, indeed the battle to preserve the Second Amendment and the Bill of Rights in its entirety should be a life-long commitment for all gun owners.

Because the gun control folks and those who want to destroy the Constitution are not going away, we must make sure that we are always vigilant.

1). If you have $$$, donate some to NRA and Gun Owners of America.
2). Try to recruit more people joining in NRA, this is the most effective thing you can do.
3). Write a letter to your congressman every two weeks, call them every other week, keep up the pressure.
4). Be a responsible and law-abiding citizen, demonstrate your love of the country, excellent common sense and convert more antis into supporters (if you can)

We need to use every tool at our disposal if we want to stop these attempts to make US the scapegoats for the criminal use of firearms. Contacting your reps at least a couple times of week and staying on top of new developments is critical. And, as mentioned above, if you can afford it, put your money to work by investing in organizations that will work to protect our rights!

MJClark, here is what you can do in west Michigan as I plan to do in east Michigan:

Someday soon we are going to have to do what the Europeans do to get noticed – take to the streets. Europe, like America, has a dominant liberal political press that backs the government and shields people from the truth about their corrupt form of government (like ours is becoming).

To overcome their government corruption (I saw in person in England) in Europe they protest openly. I saw just how effective one or two in your face protestors in a high traffic area can be. They had simple messages on 3’by 6’ placards that stated their message and their organization. In addition they had flyers for those that wanted to read about what they had to say.

I talked to one protester in a local pub who spoke broken English. He said they gave up on the internet and talking directly to their politicians because big money had bought them out and they no longer seemed to care “about the little guy”. To combat this he and a few others formed a group that had a specific goal of non violent protest (since guns are gone in England it is like a dictatorship with riots and violent protests – look up 2011 England riots) to regain public parks that had been shut down to the public.

He went on to say that they now target districts in the street, at rallies, at protests and door to door. Through their efforts they had yanked a conservative and two liberals who did not vote as they had pledged to reopen parks.

So MJ Clark start your own protest in the streets - they work!

Will someone please have these links put into a locked thread for easy locating ans constant reminder to be proactive and how?
I believe i read that only about 15% of pro gunners hav contacted their representatives.

Here is the American opinion materialized. I went to Cabela's today. There was restriction of one "bad" gun per buyer, there was (3) cans of smokeless and (4) cans of BP left, I got the last (3) boxes of 45 Colt. Guns dept looked like it's been robbed.
There were people spending an hour buying a handgun. From the look of them one could tell it was the first time they see
guns not on their TV screen. And these buyers gonna be a trouble.
Besides the frenzy, I think all this noise is more of a sales trick. Think about, there was one announced well in advance ban on assault guns. Stock was depleted, prices went up.
By the time the ban came to the end all dealers had new stockpiles ready to go. Now we expect some sort of mil style guns and high capacity mags to go under, but people buying everything like never before. For SKS ($115 in 1990) people ask $700. And for what? Arsenal does not help to vote, and I really can't imagine somebody in this free country to start armed resistance. Unless FBI decides it will look good to uncover one.

The main thing to do is never never ever Give up write call E mail go to all rally's that you can Join the nra and any local groups that support or right to bear arms . Vote vote vote until we get Politicians who stand with us. Let all Politicians know that we are not going away and that we will not give up. Remind all that Obama has 4 years left and he is done and not follow him on any gun bans because they stand a real good chance of losing their Real plush jobs. Let them know that we vote and will work as hard as we can to get the message out to vote against Them.
