Keep or Sell ?

If you're like me then if it sits it's already a regret in money wasted. It's a thing. I'd sell.

Let me ask you this. Would you ask if it wasn't a gun but a stereo? Car?

Used stereos and cars depreciate in value. Used guns appreciate.

I have two 5906s, and I never shoot either of them, but they are worth
a lot more than I originally paid for them.

I would keep it. JMHO.

I can find them all day for $400 +/-

most guns don't rely appreciate that much. Don't forget to add inflation.

And he's not asking about collectability. For him it's just a gun laying around.

Barry....keep it for your grandson if the money is not an issue.....other wise the only regret your going to have is the look of disappointment in your grandsons face the next time you take him shooting and he asks for "his" gun and you hand him a Glock;)

You'd be a fool to not keep it for your grandson. If he likes shooting it, then it would make perfect sense when the time is right to present him his first handgun he doesn't have to buy off a list if he stays in CA. Seems kinda selfish to me to deny your grandson something he would be proud to own and maybe pass on to his kids.

My Grandfather gave me his Remington 1100 lt-20 my Grandmother bought for him in the 70's. She passed a few months after I was born. He almost did the unthinkable was going to give it to his adopted step grandchild/child, but he came to his senses and its staying in the family.

I'm a CA Prisoner too

OK, I'm a CA native so i'll chime in. I have an unfired BNIB 5906 and would never, never sell (unless for stupid $$$).

Off Roster Firearms can be legally sold via PPT. Private Party Transfer. Face to Face at an FFL. No taxes, Only the DROS fee and nothing more. IMHO the condition, the box, papers etc. it's value would be $700 here. You would not be able to sell with the High Capacity mags as those are illegal but 1-10 rounder would make the sale complete.

Try Calguns.Net. Great CA Gun Forum. Great Marketplace to test the waters for sale if inclined. A lot of 3rd Gen interest and buyers with $$$ to spend here in CA. Off Roster guns bring higher prices in CA. Or sell out of state with the Hi-Caps or to LEO here. Your call. IMHO $500 is a giveaway $$$..."I'll take it..."

Best, Dave

Keep it, Sell it, it's your choice. I've sold my share for whatever reason, usually to try something else. I have my favorites but I really don't regret selling any, they are material things, sorry.

BTW, your grandson could just sell it for cash or maybe he would deeply cherish it, who knows.

Keep it for your Grandson. That's something that he will always remember when he thinks of you. I'm sure that if you were to ask him, he's say "Keep it".
