I gave in to temptation today at the local gun store. They got in the new Kel Tec P17 22lr pistol today. It is very light, my socks weigh more. Brand new, it comes with 3 16rd mags, a base for optics on the slide, fiber optic front sight. Paperwork and a couple decals also. It has a limited lifetime warranty. All of this for a price of $199.99.
I won't be able to get out to a range until Sunday. I hope this thing works well.

I've been meaning to post an official review of mine so here we go.

Bought mine at Sportmans Warehouse last week for $169.99 and I've been to the desert/range a couple times with it already. I would estimate I've put about 1500 rounds through it so far without a malfunction except for 2 or 3 rounds not being stripped from the mag in the first 100 rounds after I bought it. The barrel rifling is not that prominent so shooting Thunderbolts leaded it up pretty bad, as they do a lot of my 22s.

Other ammo has performed flawlessly. CCI Minimags, Federal Champion, CCI Blazer, Armscor Plated HP, CCI Standard, Aguila High Velocity, Automatch and M22 all cycled reliably and accuracy was excellent with little recoil.

The Kel tec reminds me of my Glock 44 which has also performed flawlessly. They are both very lightweight pistols and would be excellent guns for youth or folks looking for easy all day plinkers. Given the P17 comes with 3 (16) round mags, threaded barrel, optics ready, better sights, and better trigger, I would say its by far the better "value" compared to the G44. Also, being able to buy two for the price of one G44 is great too.

Hope this helps folks who are on the fence about these. I love my PMR and the P17 is also in the same boat.

I've been interested in this pistol since it was first announced. I like everything about it that I can actually see - the ambi controls, etc. I was just worried that it might be a piece of ****. Fortunately, that's not the case.

If anyone else has hands-on experience, please post it. I really want one of these.

I understand it has an adjustable rear sight. To me, this is essential in a 22.
