Kel-tec vs. LCP 380's

Stuff like that happens to the best people

I got the belt buckle/holster from Don Appleton at www.exoticstainlesssteel.com in Alaska. He makes the best buckles around.
This Keltec holster is not listed on his website, but you can call or email him since it is a prototpe.
Here in Florida I always wear my shirt out and it goes right over the buckle. You can shift your belt around left or right if you want to wear it at a different location. You will need to supply your own belt but the buckle is sewn leather over stainless.

I reseached this for months, Finally went for the Ruger LCP. Fits quite nice in a desantis pocket holster.

I just bought the Ruger 380 after months of researc. I already had a kel-TEc p11. I whole heartly agree with you. The ruger IS NOT CRAP.
Its accuracy, as far as mine is concerned is amazing for such a little. Recoil is very mild. This and a desantis pocket holster is about as concealed carry as you can get unless you get a NAA mini 22 mag.

I have both. Get either one you can find. The Ruger is a little nicer looking pistol based on the finish of the plastic (polymer) There is not a whole lot that seperates them. Pretty darn close to the same pistol but the parts are no interchangable. The Ruger does have a metal recoil spring rod if that means anything. You can get them for the KT. The Ruger is not a "crappy little pistol" No it's not a Sig 232 but you can't put the Sig in your pocket and doen't cost what a Sig costs. Both have excellent customer service. As to the comment that .380 is the new upcoming thing, that is not exactly true. Maybe here in the US but it has seen a lot of use in Europe both in the Military and Police. It was developed in 1912. With the newer ammo today it is a fine pocket pistol. The Rem Golden Sabers, Gold Dots and Hornady rounds are very effective. When you get snickered at for carrying a .380 just tell them it's a 9mm Kurtz and they nod their heads and go OH OK.

The Magnum Research Micro Eagle is a very cool gun and very well made. Do not know if the Kahr is out yet but it will be pricey also. I think even Taurus has one now.
Here in Florida or any hot State they are great to slip in your shorts pocket and do not even know its there. I have a SW 642 but carry the .380.

I got both P3AT and LCP. To me who cares they are the same gun. The LCP looks nicer, the LCP is a knock off of the P3AT period. To me they shoot the same, look the same so which ever one you can find get it. Also P3AT is a life time warrenty, I could not find a warrenty written anywhere with the material that came with my LCP.

Believe me, the Ruger has a warranty . . . Buy a steel gun in anything this size.

I HAVE SHOT BOTH GUNS. BOTH ARE GOOD GUNS IN
MY HUMBLE OPINON. IN TN. THE LCP IS A HUNDRED
OR SO DOLLARS MORE IF YOU CAN FIND IT. I WOULD
NOT PAY THE DIFFERANCE DON IN TN.

Buy the Ruger, keep the Keltecs available for those not willing to drop an extra $100 on the same gun.

Haku, I found a nice holster for the kel-tec and LCP. check it out at
http://www.artofthehide.com/ Very nice "holdster" allows you to carry in pocket, looks like a wallet. Plus legal to own. PS thank everyone on the info. I thought the ruger stayed open on last shot. I fell better about my kel-tec now!

I've been looking for something smaller than my M&P 9c to pocket carry. For the quality feel for the money I went with the Ruger. Looked at the Kel-Tec, but didn't care for the feel of the plastic. I think for this price point, the Ruger is the way to go. Just one more opinion. Love the forum!
