My mother was a Fletcher. And I would wear a kilt, just don't have one.

I'm of American Indian descent, maybe I should start wearing a loin cloth. On second thought, nobody wants to see that, including me.

I have a kilt which is about 9 yards of material that you have to lay out on the ground, pleat it and then wrap it around you and bring it down over your shoulder to belt level tie a belt around you then pin the rest up at your shoulder with a Kilt pin. It was given to me when the school I taught at participated in Ren Fairs that were set in the 1500's. The pattern is supposed to be that of my Grandmother's family of Reed. I can't verify if it is or isn't. Really warm, comfortable and you really can hide a lot of stuff in the pocket the shoulder piece makes. Sorry I had to wear shorts underneath, regimental was not allowed.

A smart-alecy gal just out of journalism school and working for a small weekly newspaper in Dekalb Co, GA once asked me, just to try to make me uncomfortable, what a Scotsman wore under his kilt. My one word reply:
"Lipstick."

If you want to make a guy really mean, put a dress on him. The Germans called the Scots "Ladies from Hell". Those Greek mountain guerrillas with the skirts and the pom poms on their shoes weren't anything to sneeze at either. The Romans despised anybody that wore pants and they kicked butt all over the world. I don't wear a kilt, but if I wanted to march around and kill something, I'd wear one proudly.
