Kimber Problems fr Gunsmith View

I've owned three Kimber 1911s in the past. They functioned ok but I never was as fond of them as the Dan Wessons for just a little more. I don't miss the Kimbers and probably won't buy another.

I have 3 kimber pistols, 2 Ultras and a Compact. Don't have an exact round count, but well over a thousand rounds of ball and defense ammo between the 3 and never 1 FTE or FTF. I also own 8 of there rifles, 3 Yonkers 84s, 2 Yonkers 22s, 1 Clackamas 22, and 2 Clakamas BGR 89s. All shoot and function beyond my abilities and expectations.

I only have two Kimbers. A 5" Stainless Target II and a 3" Tactical Ultra. I've never had a dimes worth of problems with the 5 inch.
The 3" when I first got it would failure to feed the last round about 20% - 25 % of the time. New Wilson magazines didn't help. I called Kimber, they said sent it back..
In a few weeks it came back and I haven't had a problem with it since.
The only problem I have with Kimbers ,, they are expensive.
Or I would have a lot more of them.. :D

I don't shoot single stack 45's as much as I use to. But, both have had several hundreds of rounds thru them.

Thumbs up here!

I currently have eight 1911's, four of which are Kimbers. The oldest is an Ultra Carry that I've had for fifteen years. I also have a Pro Carry (Commander length 9mm), a newer CDPII, and a Super Carry Pro HD. In all the years I've been shooting these pistols, never a problem. The magazines that came with them are in my storage tub of magazines - I prefer Wilson Combat.
No hesitation - I'd buy another of their 1911 pistols. I think that CDPII and Ultra Carry have spent more time on my belt than any other gun I have... But that's just me :-)

The Kimber vs. (any other brand) argument reminds me of the old days when the big topic was Colt vs. S&W. No one ever changed anyone else's mind. :D

Kimber must be doing something right - they are still in business. :)

Isn't that crazy? On one side of the room we have guys with Kimbers that run like Swiss watches. On the other side we all have Kimber wheel barrows with square wheels!!

Internet
A lot of it is Kimber envy Imo

Have 2 kimbers they work fine when using ammo they like

Hornady critical DUTY seems thier favorite

I have a Kimber Pro Carry II, purchased used off an acquaintence 5+ yrs ago, so I don't really know its true age. For a go-to carry it suits me just fine. I have never had a failure to chamber, stovepipe, or mag jam. Even had it fall out of a holster in Costco's parking lot one afternoon & scar the rear sight a bit, but like a Timex, it takes a lick'in but keeps on tick'in.

I've only owned one Kimber and won't own another because this one works awesome. It's at just over 3k now, dreaded external extractor too. The Internet said these were bad. Imagine.
:D
