I use Ceiner. Works well with no mods to the existing frame but doesn't lock open on the last round. There are varying prices depending on sights and such, figure around $300 plus extra magazines.

I built a 1911 .22LR on a Caspian frame with a Ceiner conversion, and it has been 100% reliable with everything I've fed it, and we Ransom rested it at 25 yards with cheapo Winchester counter ammo and it shot into less than an inch and a quarter. Didn't even bother to beak out the Eley stuff . . . .

I understand the wanting a conversion for your fav 1911, all the reasons. Same gun I carry, don't want a diffrent feel, etc,etc. I have looked hard at getting one myself. So don't kill me when I say for 300plus for a conversion, go out and get a good .22 semi-auto. Also a good reason to buy a new gun. Alot of options out there. Not being critical just throwing it out there.

I just put a Kimber kit on my alloy-framed Kimber Tactical Pro and it's a sweet shooter. I have dedicated .22s as well but this Kimber is loads of fun. Paid $350 locally with 2 mags...

#350 - $450 for a genuine Colt conversion. I have one and though I have to clean it a little more often its not for sale.

Lot's of truth there, and a lot of guys feel that way, but I can tell you almost every time somebody gets their hands on mine (especially after they've shot it) they ask if I'd be interested in selling it. And I've been offered a nice price more than once. So far, I haven't been tempted.
